“My methodology for creating images starts with writing down the events of the dream as soon as I’ve woken up. Sometimes I’ll make sketches to help me remember particular visual details of the dream. I use this information to look for subject matter in my environment that has elements matching those of the environment of the dream. I then use digital manipulation to combine different visual elements to create the environments and the atmosphere I experienced in the dream. This is an important part, as it is where I transform my vision into a tangible medium. The meaning of a dream is the most important part, as it forms the backbone of the project. I therefore focus on using dreams that have a lasting effect on me, or is meaningful to me in some way. To me life is an existential journey and dreams can play an important part in learning how to deal with the complexities of living and can help to see things from a different perspective. The materializing of my dreams into images is a process which helps me understand myself and life better.” - Artist’s Statement

Every time i see something beautiful, I think of you. Its like I wish you’re there to witness those beautiful things with me, and turn to me just to see if I’m seeing the same things you’re seeing, with that broken smile that I’m trying to fix.

I was at the bookstore to buy a couple rolls of manila cards for my sister just now, and I saw a couple of things that made me smile.

I saw a mother trying to choose the best folk tale books for his son, though his son was busy with cheap bookstore toys. She wanted to ask her son to sit down and choose, but she smiled instead.

“Kids” she said.

I smiled at her and i saw how proud she was to be a mother, and she smiled back, she smiled with her heart.

I continued walking to manila card section and took two rolls, Purple and Pink. Her favorite colors.

On the way out, I saw an old couple eating Ice cream in front of a Kedai Runcit next to the bookstore. I heard them ramble about “Sipadan” and how beautiful it is.

I just stopped and stared at them, haha. I laughed, and they noticed.

The old auntie whispered to her husband, trying to tell him that someone’s looking. He turned to me and said “Kenapa nak, nak juga ke?” . Not sure he was pissed or sarcastic, but i’m pretty sure he wasnt going to buy me a real cornetto lah.

I chuckled, and walked slowly to my Vespa. and drove of.

As I was riding,

I eyes were on the road, but my head was somewhere where you are, and my heart was somewhere in your arms

I figured,

I’ve seen so much with these pair of eyes,

I’ve seen smiles. I’ve seen pain. I’ve seen ghosts of the past, of the present, your ghosts, and mine too. Monsters, princesses, lakes, cabins, and shit.

But,

I wanna see you.

In that dress again.

You.

I dont want you to be mine. I dont want any burdens, I dont want any guilt.

I just want to get closer.

and make you smile.

Though its going to be hard,

and it’s going to be heartbreaking

but i just want to

i just wanna

Simply, make you smile.
